Our Bookshelf

Thinking in Pictures by Temple Grandin. This is the book we give our son's teachers to help them understand how his mind works differently from theirs. Written by an autistic woman, this book is excellent for understanding the autistic mind and will open the door to better communication with a child on the autistic spectrum.

The Out-of-Sync Child by Carol Stock Kranowitz. Gives a comprehensive look into the array of sensory processing problems often associated with autism. Gives recommended activities for both oversensitive and undersensitive children.

Extraordinary Kids by Cheri Fuller and Louise Tucker Jones. Nurturing and championing your child with special needs. Foreword by Joni Eareckson Tada. A good book with advice for parenting all of your children, protecting your marriage, etc.

Your Turn --
The preceding books are ones we have personally read and wholeheartedly recommend to others, and we'll add more in the future. We may also in the future build a members' library where you can submit, rate, and read other book reviews.
